Ministry of Laity

The ministry of the laity is the work of mission and/or ministry that each believer is called. As Christians we are all called to this ministry – not just clergy.  It is the responsibility of every believer to proclaim the Good News and reach out to others in love.

 Lay Leader

Mrs. Sarah Purcell serves as the elected Lay Leader for Beauty Spot United Methodist Church.  The role of the Lay Leader is to function as the primary representative of the local congregation and serves as a liaison between the pastor and laity.  The Lay Leader supports the pastor's God-led vision and demonstrates Christian discipleship and faith lived out in the church and in daily life for the people of the local church where he/she serves.  In addition, the Lay Leader works with the pastor to fulfill the mission and vision of the congregation.

Mrs. Gertrude Johnson heads the Lay Servant Ministry. She has completed the six courses necessary to become a Certified Lay Servant.  Our lay servants serve a liturgist, preach, lead Bible study and outreach ministries.
